Privacy at 1A: What we collect and what we deliberately exclude
Data minimalism at 1A: no ad trackers, no profiling, only essential technical logs. This page discloses exactly what 1A records, why, how long we keep it, and which data rights you have.
1A operates on data minimalism: we record only what is necessary to run the site and understand editorial reach. We do not sell data, deploy advertising trackers, embed third-party profiling widgets, or build long-term visitor profiles. This page sets out precisely what we collect, what it is for, retention periods, and the rights you can exercise under GDPR and other privacy laws.
Server logs
Standard web server access logs capture IP address, timestamp, requested URL, HTTP status code, and user agent. These logs rotate on short cycles (typically 30 days) and serve only operational purposes: detecting security anomalies, load balancing, and identifying service errors. Logs are not cross-referenced with visitor profiles and are not sold or shared.
Aggregated reach metrics
Anonymized page-view counts inform our editorial team which pieces resonate with readers and which merit follow-up reporting. This data is site-wide and aggregated; we do not track individual sessions across pages, build audience segments, or assign visitor IDs. Metrics are internal-only and do not leave the 1A infrastructure.
What we explicitly do not collect
We do not use Google Analytics, Mixpanel, Segment, or similar visitor-tracking SDKs. We do not embed social-media pixels (Facebook, TikTok, Twitter). We do not use heatmaps, session replay, or form-tracking tools. We do not collect browsing history outside 1A, geo-location, device type (beyond user-agent), or advertising IDs. No cookies are set for marketing or personalization.
